The eLan SA Rugby Legends recent safari to Zambia turned out to be a huge success in more ways than one. The legends arrived in Ndola on Thursday 26 November where they were welcomed by Sergio Georgiou of the internationally acclaimed Michelangelo Lodge and were later hosted with a cocktail party that evening with many of the locals being invited to meet them. The next day they participated in a sponsored golf day. With 28 four balls participating it turned out to be yet another successful day with the main sponsors PG Glass really coming to the party. PG Glass will soon be opening a new branch in Ndola and with their tremendous support of the Legends Golf Day we’re sure that there new opening will be a great success and well supported by the locals. Our sincere thanks go to Laura Goncalves from PG Glass for all her support and efforts which contributed to a most successful trip to Zambia. Also contributing to the great success of the trip were the other main sponsors First Quantum Mines and special thanks should go to Andries Scott for all his efforts in helping make the golf day the success that it was - the hospitality all round was simply superb. The prize giving and cocktails ended another enjoyable day of great camaraderie. On the Saturday the legends held a clinic for some 200 children at the Wanderers Sports Club in Ndola, which was a great advert for the game in those parts and that evening the Legends joined in at the Dinner Dance Fundraising Dinner helping the organizers raise some R50 000 which will go to the Zambian Rugby Football Union, mainly for the development of the game in that country. There can be no doubt that this was a trip that will be long remembered and appreciated by many of the Zambians who were embraced by the Legends and certainly a big Thank You must go to Sergio at the Michelangelo Lodge for all his help and remarkable hospitality - indeed a true friend of the eLan SA Rugby Legends and the SA Rugby Legends Association
