Lynford Weekend

The eLan SA Rugby Legends were once again happy to be part of yet another worthy cause after accepting an invitation from the farming community of Ixopo to take part in their annual fundraiser for the Lynford School.

The Lynford Clover Country Weekend, held annually in the small midlands town, as always put together a superb programme, which included events such as the Amazing Brain Race, the Team Night Race, the ever popular Motorbike Fun Ride and of course for the farmers from the surrounding areas the much acclaimed Agricultural Expo before culminating with the Lynford Clover Classic mountain bike ride.

The eLan SA Rugby Legends opened proceedings to what turned out to be a memorable weekend with a coaching clinic for 150 local youngsters aged between 6 and 17 years old. The clinic conducted by former Springbok centre Pieter Muller with his former team mates John Allan and Andre Snyman together with former provincial players and locals in the area Dave Spence and Neil Cole, was a huge success and greatly appreciated by the community.

The evening festivities included a question and answer panel discussion with the three former Boks and 250 local guests attending the truly enjoyable function.

The remainder of the time was spent in the incredibly hospitable company of the Lynford School community and the wonderful people of Ixopo, which was rounded off by watching the Springboks beating the All Blacks for the 2009 Tri-Nations title.
