Rob Louw Cancer Warning

With the news that has been spreading rapidly through the country regarding former Springbok Rob Louw’s sad news after being diagnosed with a life threatening form of cancer and the call to the nation to wear pink for Saturday's Currie Cup final in support of cancer research and more importantly in support of Rob and his family, the SA Rugby Legends Association have announced that they will be wearing pink at the opening of the Tiger Turf Indoor Arena at Gateway on Friday.

The CEO of the SA Rugby Legends Association John Allan spoke to Rob Louw who is in the United States visiting the top surgeons and specialists in their field will be fighting for his life over the next few weeks. Allan said that after speaking with Rob at length advised that he has a message from the Springbok legend which he wants to convey to the country and that is simply warning all people about this dreadful disease, which so often can strike from nowhere but more importantly that we should take more time to be tested for the dreaded disease - if we took more time doing tests we certainly could save many more lives.

Allan explained that Rob has always been a positive person and is a man who provided this rugby playing country with some truly great and cherished moments and further stated that it’s now our turn to pay our dues to one of the great legends of the game. He was always ready to turn out for the eLan SA Rugby Legends if time allowed him too and became one of their favorite sons. Entertaining, passionate and a great inspiration to so many people is Rob Louw, certainly deserving of our support so lets go big with pink.

John Allan also highlighted the fact that another Springbok legend Ruben Kruger is also fighting against cancer and had been advised it had returned after being in remission for a short while. The SA Rugby Legends Association will be doing a function with Ruben next month and we send our prayers and thoughts out to these two truly great icons of the game
